Read these common 6 mistakes now, and make sure you don’t make any of them in the future!

1. Starting up your online business without having a plan.

Once you learn a few things about having your own online business, many people just want to start up right now – therefore many rights from the start buy a domain, put a website up, and get going with your idea.

While that sounds great, you first need to have a plan for your business. There are certain things you need to do before you even start. You need to make sure that you’re doing everything correctly right from the start so that you don’t waste all of your time.

You first need to make sure that your business idea is a good one. It’s great that you have passion for something, but have you checked to make sure it’s a viable option ? Does the niche get enough traffic ? Will people visit your website or buy your product based on what’s already out there ? Things like that are what you will need to research before you start up your online business.

Next, you will have to figure out how you’re going to make money from your business website. You don’t want to spend days/weeks/months creating your website, and then realize that you don’t have any way to make money from it. Will you use affiliate links to earn from your business website ? Will you create your own product ?

After this is decided, you will also need to know how you’re going to promote your website/product. You can have the best product or website in the world, but if you don’t know how to promote it, you’ll never get a single visitor.

These are just some of the things you will need to think about and plan for before you start your first online business. You’ll end up getting to where you want a lot faster while wasting a lot less time, if you first think about it, do your research, and create a plan ahead of time.

Already have your website up ? It’s not too late. Create a plan from the point you’re at now. Did you skip researching your niche in the beginning ? Go back and do it now. If it’s a niche where not enough people will be interested in it, you are better off finding out now, before spending any more of your time. Plan out what you will do from this point on, and you will find that you can still have a successful online business.

2. Thinking you need to learn everything about online business before you even start.

There will always be something in Internet Marketing and online business that you won’t know. There are new products and features being launched every day, new tools being created, and new ways to get traffic to your website.

If you want to know absolutely everything about Internet Marketing and online business before you even start, you’ll never end up starting your online business.

You can easily spend months if not years just learning about marketing on the Internet, and how to make money on the Internet. While you shouldn’t start before you know enough to do the things you want to do and accomplish online, you don’t need to know absolutely everything there is about Internet Marketing and online business before starting.

This goes with your selected niche as well. Even if you’re not a complete expert in your niche, don’t wait until you’ve learned everything about the subject before you put your website up. You just need to know “enough”, and as time goes on and you work with your online business you’ll learn more.

Once again, if you try to learn absolutely everything about your niche ahead of time, you’ll never get to a point where you can put up a website or a product, so you’ll never earn an income online.

3. Not choosing a niche because of too much competition.

Once you have a great idea for a niche, the first thing you’ll do is some research on that niche. You will take a look at how often certain keywords are searched for on the search engines.

You will research how many products exist that you can buy on the subject of your niche, etc. Sometimes you might get intimidated when you see that there are many other products for the niche you are considering and decide that it is a bad idea, as there is already too much competition.

This is not always the case though. The reason that there is so much competition is because it’s a GREAT niche! While you won’t want to come out with a product that already exists, or create a website similar to others out there, you are probably choosing a good niche, and just need to come up with a different way to sell your products within that niche.

For example, the weight loss niche is very popular. There are thousands of products you can buy, and even more websites out there than products. Does this mean that you should stay away completely from that niche ? No. The reason that there are so many products and websites in the weight loss niche is because it’s a very popular niche with many people looking for information about weight loss each and every day.

It just means that you will have to come up with something different. Either go for a slightly different topic within the niche, or create something that makes you stand apart, and makes you better than everyone else.

4. Not getting something up at your website, because it needs to be perfect first.

You might think that before you can put your website or product online that it has to be 100% perfect. You might have already spent days or weeks on your website, or article, but want it to be even better before you let people visit your website. I can tell you this right now…it will probably never be good enough for you, if you are a perfectionist.

If you are that kind of person, that when creating it, you will always think that it can be better…so if you wait for it to be “perfect” in your eyes, you will never put the product/website live, and will never make a penny.

Start realizing that nothing will ever be perfect and that once you put your website or product live, you can always along the way make changes to make it even better.

Plus, once you have your website or product live, you will start to get feedback. This can help you make things even better…things, based on your feedback, that you would have never thought of on your own.

The sooner you can get something that is “good” up, the sooner you will start making it even better and will start earning money for your online business.

5. Starting off with multiple websites.

When you first start trying to make money online, you might have one idea and put it up. If it doesn’t start making money right away, often people might want to start working on another idea, hoping that one will do better.

Before you know it, you have more than a handful of websites and aren’t making money on any of them, even though you’re still working on all of them, and spend a lot of time on your websites.

This isn’t the right way to go about having an online business. Start with one idea. Keep working on that idea until you get it to be successful. Focus is the keyword here.

Once that happens, and you don’t need to put the bulk of your time into it anymore, then you can start another website. If you start off with multiple ideas and multiple websites, you will end up spreading yourself too thin.

Instead of getting one website doing really well, you will risk ending up with a bunch of websites that do nothing.

Think about this. If you spend 5 hours a day promoting one website, won’t that do a lot better for your site than if you can only spend 1 hour a day because you have another 4 websites to promote for the other 4 hours you work each day ?

You are more likely to get the first website up and running well if you spend all of your time working on it, and then moving on to something else instead of working on all 5 at once.

6. Thinking your online business will become a success overnight.

If you read any of the Internet Marketing forums or different internet marketing Facebook posts like I do, you may start to think that many people are starting an online business, and are making tons of money in a short amount of time.

It seems like many of them do a little research, sign up to a “magic button” project, and then earn lots of money within the next month.

But the truth is, that is not really the case, and significant income right away very rarely happens. To succeed in the online business world requires exactly the same dedicated effort to be successful as in any other industry – online or outside the online world – Simple as that.

People talking about making lots of money with magic button projects are scam people that are trying to appeal to your nature, where many of us dream of avoiding hard work and seek pleasure, and many of us are impatient and want to be rewarded as soon as possible.

And it is these human instincts that the scammers of the making online money projects are playing with to get you to sign up to their making money online scam projects.

You need to realize that it can take months or years to earn a good income online, and just because you are not having a success overnight with your online business doesn’t mean that you’re not doing it right.

It can take a long time to get to a point where your online business pays all of your bills, but just because you aren’t there in a few months after starting up, don’t think that you’re a failure. If you know that you’re doing, and what you should be doing in the future with your online business, keep going at it.

Therefore, before you start up with your online business, it is important that you prepare your mindset, that it can take time to get success with your online business – even if you are doing all the right things with your business – if you do the work THE RIGHT WAY and give yourself the TIME – if you make an agreement with yourself, that you are willing to do ‘whatever it takes as long as it takes’ – YOU WILL SUCCEED with your online business – simple as that
